Sustainability

Beauty, chosen with care.

At Dear Luma, sustainability is not a statement we place beside our jewellery. It is part of how each piece begins.

It lives in the stones we choose, the materials we ask about, the partners we work with, and the questions we continue to ask as we grow. We believe beauty should feel considered from every angle: how it looks, how it is worn, how it is gifted, and how it comes into the world.

Our approach is simple: fewer unknowns, more intention.

Laboratory-grown stones catching the light

Stones Grown Above Ground

Dear Luma works with laboratory-grown stones selected for their colour, clarity, proportion and the way they hold light within each design.

By choosing stones grown above ground, we reduce reliance on newly mined alternatives and the disruption that can come with traditional extraction. Each stone is chosen not only for its brilliance, but for its place in the piece: how it catches light, how it balances the form, and how it becomes part of someone's story.

To us, a stone should not only shine beautifully. It should carry a quieter kind of responsibility.

Natural materials: pearls, soft metals and tactile surfaces

Materials With Meaning

We are drawn to materials that feel close to nature: freshwater pearls, laboratory-grown stones, shell-inspired forms, wood, soft silver tones, warm gold finishes and tactile surfaces that catch light in subtle ways.

Some materials are shaped by precision. Others carry organic variation. A pearl may be softly irregular. A shell-like curve may feel touched by movement. A surface may reflect light differently as it turns.

This balance is part of the Dear Luma language: intention and individuality, light and texture, modern making and natural feeling.

Considered details and clearly described materials

Clearer Origins

We believe trust is built through specifics.

Where possible, we ask our suppliers for clear information about stone type, base metal, plating method, material composition and country of manufacture. These details help us understand what each piece is made from, where it comes from, and how honestly we can describe it.

We do not believe in vague claims. We believe in knowing more, sharing more clearly, and improving the choices behind every collection.

People and partners behind each piece

Fairer Relationships

Sustainability is not only about materials. It is also about people.

As Dear Luma grows, we are working toward fairer trading relationships with suppliers and production partners who respect safe working conditions, fair treatment and responsible material handling. We believe the beauty of a piece should never depend on hidden labour or unclear practices.

A meaningful piece begins long before it reaches the person who wears it.

Thoughtful, lower-waste gift packaging

Less Waste, More Purpose

A Dear Luma piece is often chosen as a gift, so presentation matters. But we believe packaging should feel thoughtful, not excessive.

We are moving toward recyclable, reusable and lower-waste packaging wherever possible, from gift-ready boxes to protective materials designed with purpose. The first moment of opening should feel beautiful. What remains afterwards should feel considered too.

An ongoing promise to choose with care

Our Ongoing Promise

We are not claiming perfection.

We are building Dear Luma with the intention to keep moving toward clearer sourcing, lower-impact materials, fairer trading relationships and fewer unknowns behind every piece.

Sustainability, for us, is a practice of choosing with care, asking better questions and improving the way each piece comes to life, so the beauty we enjoy today can leave a gentler world for those who come after us.

Dear Luma.
Wear the light you keep.
